Installing Flood: The Visual Interface
Stop typing commands. Learn how to install Flood, a beautiful web dashboard that lets you manage downloads from your browser.
Briefing: What is Flood?
Downloading via the black terminal screen is hard. Flood solves this.
Flood is a "Visual Skin" for your seedbox. It gives you a website where you can drag-and-drop torrent files, see download speeds graphs, and manage files just like you do on your PC.
We will use Docker. Think of Docker as a "App Store" for servers. It installs the Engine (rTorrent) and the UI (Flood) in one single box.
Installation Protocol
Open your Google Cloud SSH Window and follow these exact steps.
First, we need the software that runs our apps.
1. Copy this command block and hit Enter:
sudo apt install -y docker.io
2. Wait for it to finish.
This single command downloads Flood and starts it.
--name flood \
-e FLOOD_AUTH=false \
-p 3000:3000 \
-p 49188:49188 \
-v ~/downloads:/data/downloads \
jesec/rtorrent-flood
We opened Port 3000 (the website) and told it to save files in your
~/downloads folder.
We need to let your browser connect to Port 3000.
1. Go to Google Cloud Console → VPC Network → Firewall.
2. Click CREATE FIREWALL RULE.
3. Name: allow-flood
4. Targets: All instances in the network.
5. Source IPv4 ranges: 0.0.0.0/0
6. Protocols and ports: Check TCP and type 3000.
7. Click CREATE.
1. Find your Server's External IP (It's on the VM Instances page).
2. Open a new tab in Chrome/Safari.
3. Type: http://YOUR_IP:3000
4. Success! You will see the beautiful blue Flood interface.
